Below is a direct link to an online donation web page.
The following link is an article describing the current relief efforts the church is providing:
http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/church-sends-additional-aid-to-haiti-earthquake-victims donations for relief efforts can be made at http://give.lds.org/emergencyresponse. " Personally I also have some friends who are trying to adopt from Haiti, at this time there are several children from their Orphanage (including their adoptive children) who are missing, prayers on behalf of the missing children would be appreciated. We will let you know if we hear of additional service opportunities.

Jan. 24th is the last practice for choir for the Stake Relief Sociey Activity @ 6:30, for details about where the practice is please contact me and I will fill you in.

Okay, I think that is it, if you have any questions please let me know! Thanks and have an amazing week!

Weekly Announcements

We appreciate all those who have signed up to feed the missionaries, there are a couple of openings still for this first week of January. If you are able to fill the night of either the 4th, 6th, or 8th please contact Kate Freeman at 250-2396 or dougkatef@yahoo.com

Jan. 26th - G.A.B. 6:30 at the church...more information to follow!

Jan. 30th - Stake Relief Society Meeting from 9:00 - 1:00 at the Stake Center

Foothill Ward is forming a women's choir to perform selections at our upcoming Stake Women's Conference on January 30th. We are very excited about this and hope you will join in our excitement!

In the Relief Society General Meeting in September Sister Beck said,
"All of our meetings and activities are meetings of Relief Society sisters. For the past number of years, we have called additional Relief Society meetings home, family, and personal enrichment meetings. In response to concerns about the complexity of that title and the different interpretations about the purpose of those meetings, a decision has been made that the name “home, family, and personal enrichment” will be discontinued effective now. In counsel with the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, it was determined that rather than give these additional Relief Society meetings a new title, all such meetings and activities will now be referred to simply as Relief Society meetings. Individual Relief Society meetings that are held during the week can be called whatever they are: Relief Society service, classes, projects, conferences, or workshops."

Following the council of our leaders we will no longer call our weekday activities "Enrichment". They will all be called simply Relief Society Meetings. All meetings will be planned with South Meadows Sisters in mind. Our ward meetings will not be like any other Relief Society's meetings in the world. We are unique with many unique talents, personalities and trials and our meetings will reflect that. We have decided to call all weekday meetings G.A.B. (Go Away Better) Sessions to distinguish them from other activities in the ward. This name is unique to US! We hope that each sister will come and then Go Away Better, having made a new friend, maybe having learned a new skill, maybe just sitting and relaxing for a minute and recharging. We hope that as each of us leave these meetings, our faith and personal righteousness will increase, we will feel better prepared to strengthen our families and homes and we will be more prepared to serve the Lord and his children.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://southmeadowsreliefsociety.blogspot.com/2009/11/gab-sessions.html' title='G.A.B. Visit each assigned sister regularly (in her home or other appropriate setting every month).
2. “Learn of the spiritual and temporal needs of the sister and her family.”
3. “Offer appropriate assistance.”
4. “Give spiritual instruction through a monthly message.”

The Lord has blessed women with divine attributes of love, compassion, kindness, and charity. Through our monthly visits as visiting teachers, we have the power to bless each sister as we extend our arms of love and kindness and give the gifts of compassion and charity. No matter what our individual circumstances are, we all have the opportunity to edify and nurture others." - Silvia H.
